Hitler Trivia

In 1943, Dr. Henry A. Murray of the OSS (Office of Strategic Services – predecessor of the CIA) predicted Hitler’s suicide in the face of Germany’s defeat. His report was aimed at better understanding Hitler, and how to deal with him. Data was collected from second hand sources. Murray labeled Hitler’s personality as ‘counteractive narcism’ whose characteristics included holding grudges, excessive demand for attention, persistence in the face of defeat, self-trust and the inability to take a joke. (The entire document is available for download at Cornell Law Library here)

Murray also says that Hitler had nightmares that were ‘suggestive of homosexual panic’.

Hitler was ambivalent towards his parents. His sadistic father was feared and respected, while his mother was loved but held in contempt. (Murray)

In ‘Nazi Hunter: The Simon Wiesenthal Files” the author relates Wiesenthal talking about on of the reasons why Hitler hated Jews so much. A Jewish prostitute gave Hitler syphilis, which no doubt also contributed to his mental breakdown.

At the age of 19 Hitler applied to the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His work wasn't good enough and he was rejected. In the days after that he made his living selling his amateur work to small businesses that took pity on his ragged appearance. The humiliation of his experiences remained with him till as the Fuhrer he was able to exact his revenge on the town of Vienna. He began looting all museums and homes of works of art that he intended to display in the town of Linz (where he lived as a teenager) in order to make it the art capital of the world. - The World’s Greatest Unsolved Crimes: R. Boar & N. Blundell)

Hitler had terrible table manners. He bit his nails, dig his nails and gorged on desert and paid little attention to conversations. His blinding rage kept even top Nazi officials in perpetual fear.

In India, Hindu nationalists like Vinayak Savarkar and Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar were influenced by Hitler’s political manifesto - Mein Kampf. Maharashtra based political party - the Shiv Sena’s boss is quoted as saying ‘If you take Mein Kampf’ and if you remove the word Jew and put in the word Muslim, that is what I believe in ‘.

The copyright of ’Mein Kapmf’ rests with the German state of Bavaria where publication is banned till 2015 (which is 70 years after the Fuhrer’s death and when the copyright expires.
